History of AGT Poortman

1868 | A. Poortman N.V. founded in Holland.


1950 | A. Poortman (London) Ltd founded with opening of London office.


1958 | Poortman London becomes one of the first European companies to begin importing Pulses & Birdseeds from China.


1960 | Becomes independent of Dutch Parent Company.


1966 | Directors begin regular trips to China.


1998 | Established a wholly owned subsidiary Eco Organic Foods.


2001 | Trinidad Benham become 50% owners together with London founding family member Andrew Jacobs.


2003 | Poortman establish a dedicated pulse processing factory in Tianjin, China.


2008 | Poortman Holland’s new branch office opens.


2010 | Alliance Grain Traders Inc., one of the largest suppliers of value-added pulses, staple foods and food ingredients in the world, acquires Poortman Ltd.


2014 | Alliance Grain Traders undergoes a name change to AGT Food and Ingredients to reflect its expanding business.


2015 | Poortman adopts the trading name AGT Poortman as part of the AGT Food and Ingredients Inc. group.
